Background/Summary

St. Elmo Brady S.T.E.M. Academy (SEBA) was created to expose, empower, and engage underrepresented fourth and fifth-grade youth to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) using an innovative approach. First, participants engage in hands-on S.T.E.M. experiments and inquiry-based learning modules that are closely aligned with National & State Science and Math Standards. Next, participants learn about STEM pioneers or current engineering professionals through weekly videos and exploration activities. They also interact with the University of Houston students, faculty, and staff to complete experiments. Lastly, families are encouraged to participate by conducting experiments alongside participants.
