My name is Esther Oseni and I am a sophomore Chemical Engineering student at the University of Houston. I work as a program assistant/mentor for the St. Elmo Brady STEM Academy program at Cage Elementary School.
Chemical engineering piqued my interest when I saw the variety of pathways available in this field. I'm still trying to figure out what direction I want to take. I'm thinking about the processing component, either in the design or pharmaceutical form. Having a mentor to advise me and expose me to the engineering field would be immensely valuable in determining which path I want to take. I'm keen to learn new skills and ideas from individuals who have worked in the industry to broaden my knowledge.
Being a part of the SEBA program has been an incredible experience. Seeing the excitement and eagerness of these young children as they learn about STEM is extremely encouraging to me. It excites me to be entering the field of engineering after seeing the impact it is currently having on them.
