Bereket Mego

My name is Bereket Mego. I am a sophomore biomedical engineering student at the University of Houston. I am a member of the University of Houston’s Honors College and Grand Challenges Scholar Program. I am currently working as a program assistant at Cage Elementary School for the St. Elmo Brady STEM Academy.

I became a biomedical engineering major due to the interface seen between engineering and medicine. I have loved the engineering process ever since being introduced to it when I joined the Cullen College of Engineering, and I am excited to apply it to various fields in medicine.

I love the SEBA Program because it allows me to share my knowledge in engineering with elementary students who share similar backgrounds as myself. It is extremely inspiring to see these students so excited to attend class every day and I am overjoyed that I have the privilege of teaching these students about STEM topics using both curriculum and hands-on experiences.
